Bag Modifications

I don’t know about anyone else but when something annoys me about my bag I tend to modify it so I don’t have to deal with it. Here is what I have done to my Innova Competition bag.

The one thing that I really couldn’t stand was the tray/divider/ frame thing that Innova uses it doesn’t really seem to do much other then act as a divider. I did not realize how much I would miss having the awesome internal frame that Revolution uses, it keeps the main compartment square and acts as a nice divider and support for the discs. After trying to learn to live with the innova thing for the last 3 weeks I finally gave up and made a trip to the hardware store. I made my own internal frame that the innova supplied divider sits on and together they really improve the bags function. It is very similar to the frame in the gorilla boy bags (see here - http://www.gorilla-boy.com/frame.shtml ) except made from wood instead of PVC and no divider in the middle. The two end sheets are 8.5 inches wide by 8 inches tall made from ¼ inch ply-wood and the spacers are 11.5 in long 1-1/8” wood Dowels. I cut the corners off the end sheets and sanded until all the edges where rounded to prevent them tearing the bag. I then drilled a hole at each of the bottom corners about ¾ of an inch from each side. The hole was large enough for the screw to pass through and I predrilled each end of the dowels with a smaller bit so that the screw would not spilt the dowels. Finally I placed a large washer on the screw and fastened all of the pieces together. The Innova divider fits snuggly between the two end pieces and rests on the dowels. The size actually came out perfect. It fits snugly in the bag without being so tight that it is tearing it, and there is clearance so the top can still be zipped closed fine. The frame turned out much lighter then I expected it is no more then the weight of a couple discs so empty with this frame the innova bag weighs about the same as my empty Revolution club bag

The second thing that really annoyed me with the Innova competition bag was the elastic on the putter pocket. I took this off and sewed on a piece on normal fabric and now two putters fit easily.

The next modifications I am going to make are to add Velcro straps to attach a folded chair to, and a holder for my little clipboard/scorecard.

Does anybody else make modifications to their bag?

Well I do make modifications to my bag, but they are minor. On my revo carolina i cut off the towel straps because they always got caught in the zippered pockets. I also am planning to modify the drink holders with a second strap on the bottom so smaller bottles do not fall out. It is really annoying when they fall out.
Earlier this year it was reported that climate change may have killed the Loch Ness Monster. There have been "no "credible sightings" of Nessie for over a year.

Yeah smaller bottles can slip through the bands. One fix is to take a plastic cup and cut off the bottom leaving a small rim. This will keep the smaller bottles from slipping out. I'd suggest making a few small drain holes in the cup bottom.
